History

History will go hereJulianne Agnes Vernon was born in beautiful Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 18, 1970, to Dr. Michael and Mrs. Roberta Vernon. She was the first of three children, a brother, Oscar, who is two years younger, and a sister, Elizabeth, who is six years younger. The family lived just across the Delaware River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

The Vernons lived a very comfortable life, since both parents worked - Dr. Vernon worked at HUP as an attending physician in the emergency room, and Mrs. Vernon was a librarian at their town library. With their comfortable lifestyle came the perks of money - vacations around the world, various lessons and classes (swimming, ballet, music lessons, camps, etc.), and ultimately, affording a college education.

Julianne was always a very good student. As a child, Julianne was very inquisitive and intelligent - she was reading by age three, and skipped a grade in elementary school. By high school, she had risen to the top of her class, and graduated as valedictorian. With her excellent SAT scores, particularly in math, and plethora of extra curricular activities, Julianne had the world of academia open to her. Since both her father and her grandfather went to Harvard (and her paternal grandmother went to Radcliffe), it was only fitting that she was accepted and chose to attend Harvard University for her bachelor's degree.

At Harvard, Julianne immersed herself into the Ivy League lore - she participated in various campus traditions, joined the Harvard Band, and overall made the most of her college career. She majored in psychology, also fulfilling all of her pre-med requirements so that she could attend medical school like her father. However, she also decided to pursue her love of mathematics, taking one math class a semester at MIT (since you can cross-register between the schools), achieving a minor in mathematics.

It was also at Harvard that Julianne met the love of her life, Joshua Weinberg. They were both members of the band (Julianne played the flute, Joshua played the trombone), though Joshua was a year above Julianne. They began dating during the second semester of her freshman year. He was an economics and political science double major with aspirations to become a lawyer. When he graduated, he stuck around the Boston area for an extra year, working for a non-profit, while Julianne graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Luckily enough, they were both accepted into graduate programs at the University of Pennsylvania, Julianne at Penn Med (no surprise there, since her father was an attending at HUP, but she did deserve to get in), and Joshua at Penn Law (he deferred a year so they would graduate at the same time). They married the summer after their first years.

The first few years of their marriage were bliss. Once they had both graduated, Julianne was placed in a psychiatry internship at New York Presbyterian, and Joshua got an offer from a prestigious law firm in Manhattan. They rented an apartment in Chelsea, and quickly fell into city life. However, their idyllic life and relationship quickly fell apart a few years later, when Julianne was 30, when she came home early from the hospital to catch her husband in bed cheating on her - with another MAN.

Julianne was incredibly angry - not only because of her husband's infidelity, but also because he didn't tell her about his sexuality. Julianne moved out the next day and moved in temporarily (well, what turned out to be five years, but it was meant to be temporary) with a friend from college who also lived in the city. The couple got a relatively amicable divorce, and they're still on speaking terms. Joshua now lives with his boyfriend, a Broadway dancer, in an apartment on the upper east side.

When Julianne was 32, her father died of cardiac arrest. Her mother was never the same, and decided to move down to Florida with her sister. However, a few years later in a seemingly cruel twist of fate, Mrs Vernon's sister also died, and Mrs. Vernon had no one to help take care of her. She begged her children to move down to Florida to help her, but both Oscar and Elizabeth were already married with children. This left the responsibility up to Julianne, who was about ready to start her own medical practice, anyway.

However, in the failing economy and in the state of current medical insurance covering psychiatric disorders, Julianne's attempt to start her own practice proved to be unsuccessful. She needed a job, and with her MD degree and specialization in psychiatry, she was willing to take any job to pay the bills until she could land back on her feet again. When Julianne found the school psychologist job open at Olympia Heights Senior High, she begrudgingly took the job - since she has an MD and not just a PhD, she's able to prescribe medication.

Even though she thought she would hate working at a high school, Julianne found that the kids at OH were so, well, screwed up, that she took a liking to the job. Her plate was always full, and she surprisingly liked working with teenagers. She was even able to pick up her love of math again as the coach of the math team. She also volunteered to be the coach of the debate team and the track team (since she'd been running since she was a little kid - to keep in shape, Julianne runs long distances, and participates in marathons).

When Julianne discovered her first power last summer, she was incredibly surprised. She had a dream about college, and when she woke up, she longed for her college years. When she looked in the mirror, she looked like her college self - 30 pounds thinner, fuller hair (it was the 80s, after all), and not a wrinkle on her face. She thought she was going crazy or dreaming - it must be all of those psychiatry texts she'd read. However, when she showed up for work, no one recognized her, so she knew it had to be true. A few weeks later, she had another dream about her childhood (except it was not her childhood, it was what turned out to be the goddess Hebe's childhood), and she woke up thinking about how easy life was as a child - lo and behold, she was a twelve year old. Something was fishy, but she eventually learned how to control her power.

By the time she reached her second power, she knew that something was going on. She went for a drive in her rusty car, she started cursing at the old junky car, and suddenly, it was running smoothly, like the day it had been issued in 1990. A few days later, she was in her office, thinking about how her office needed a new paint job, and when she leaned against the wall, the paint suddenly looked as good as new.

Julianne has gone on a few dates with Dr. Livingstone, and together, they've been piecing together the greek god theory.

Personality

Julianne's personality reflects her upbringing rather than the hardships she's experienced later in life - she's very sweet, extremely friendly, and very understanding. She's extremely observant about others' motivations and personalities, but that's to be expected of a good psychiatrist. Julianne is also a very good and dedicated friend and confidante, and her excellent memory and deductive skills lets her help people sove their problems. However, sometimes she's overly confident in her abilities, and may be a bit boastful about it.

While she's sympathetic toward others' problems and is willing to help whenever necessary, Julianne is also very impatient when others don't catch onto things as quickly as she does. She;s also sometimes too stubborn for her own good, unwilling to change in her ways.
